The Unexpected Meeting
That morning seemed like any other day.
Birds chirped above the trees while the village slowly woke to life. Uli balanced her firewood and walked toward the roadside path that led to the farms.
Suddenly, the distant sound of horses filled the air.
People quickly stepped aside.
“The prince is coming!” someone shouted.
Excitement spread through the village. Children ran to the roadside while elders bowed their heads respectfully.
Uli quickly moved aside like everyone else, lowering her eyes to avoid attention.
Prince Promise, the only son of the kingdom’s ruler, rode proudly on a tall horse surrounded by palace guards.
Then something unexpected happened.
A small goat suddenly ran into the middle of the road.
The royal horse stopped abruptly.
Prince Promise nearly lost his balance.
The guards shouted in panic.
But before anyone could react, Uli rushed forward without thinking. She grabbed the goat and pulled it away from the road.
For a brief moment, everything became silent.
